This FAQ applies to all of my accounts. I've always wanted a more comprehensive FAQ that explains why I do the things I do and why I won't do some things rather than just stating something and leaving it at that. I'd rather you understand my reasoning behind my decisions instead of being in the dark.
Please have the patience to read through this as I have had the patience to write all of this for you. Ok, let's get to them!
------------------
Question: I have a request..., Can you do...?, I have an idea for a *thing*..., etc.
Answer: I don't take ANY requests/ suggestions/ ideas, etc. for anything.
-I get loads of requests and I can't do them all because I am only one person.
-It also wouldn't be fair for me to do only some from some people but refuse others.
-I am never short on ideas either.
-I want to show games that you may not have heard of otherwise to give some attention to them. I can't do that if I took requests because most games requested are mainstream, overplayed games.
Don't think: "Well, it's only one, I'm sure he won't mind!" then post it. I assure you that thousands of other people also thought that very same thing before they posted their request.
I do however take constructive critiques into consideration as to how I could improve the quality of the things I do make.
---------------------
Q: When will you...?
A: I don't have a set schedule, but I typically post a video or two a day. There's times when I won't post due to some reason, but I will always explain what that reason is or do so later. Pay a attention to my accounts to find out what it is and don't be impatient. You asking only slows me down.
-------------------
Q: What are you doing next?, What are your future plans?, Etc.
A: Please don't ask, I won't tell you. I keep everything I am planning to make or not planning to make a secret nowadays for varyious reasons:
1: I like to surprise people.
2: My plans change all the time as I'm a very indecisive person, I don't want to say I'll be doing something, change it and disappoint people excited for it as a result.
3: There's always a small group that rebel like crazy and demand something else because they don't like my choice.
(Keep in mind that you can't please everyone with ANY choice.)
---------------------
Q: 1st/2nd/3rd/etc... comment!/view!/like!/etc...
A: This isn't a question, but I can't help but express my distaste of comments like these. If your idea of a personal achievement is to be one of the first *something* on a video, you obviously haven't done much in your life. Don't even try telling me that there is some intelligent reason for you to do such a thing because there isn't.
"Blocking" other people from saying 1st, 2nd, etc. is a no-no too because saying that you are blocking someone from taking the first spot so they can't annoy the video creator is essentially saying that you did it to take the first spot... which then encourages other people to post "2nd", "3rd", etc. just to spite you.
Finally, saying something like: "First! Nice video!" will not exempt you from this either because you clearly posted that comment quickly without even watching just for the intent of getting to be one of the first commenters since you don't even know what you are complimenting. I'm not stupid.
-It is not funny because it's old.
-It is not clever because it's old.
-It is not an achievement because there's thousands new posts every day to post a comment on.
-It does not help the creator because if the creator leaves your "first" comment up, it only looks like they encourage spam.
It is, however, just unoriginal trolling. Don't believe it? Read this:
http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/first
If you post a comment proclaiming something like this, I'll remove it. No exceptions no matter what else you write in it. So, your "achievement" won't even exist in the public eye to see. In other words: don't waste both of our time.
-------------------------
Q: Will anyone look at my work?
A: Please don't advertise yourself in a public place where people can see your comment. How would you like it if I mooched off the work you created just to promote myself? Granted I don't believe that there is any real "competition" like some people believe because you can follow as many people as you want, but it's just rude to go on someone else's turf to promote yourself.
---------------------------
Q: I can't get this *thing* to work, could you help me?
A: Please don't ask technical help questions. I did not invent what I use to create things so I won't be able to fix your issue. If I never had a problem, I won't know how to fix a problem since I never had to learn how, basically. I don't have knowledge on everything ever produced, nor do I have everything ever made. Your best bets are to use a search engine, call the company that made the product, look on the company's website who made the product or a tech-help website.
--------------------------
Q: I need help in *Game*, can you help me?
A: The awesome people and their guides at: http://www.gamefaqs.com (use their search box) will likely already have your answer. I'm not a player's guide, nor do I have every game or know everything about every game out there off the top of my head. That is often where I go to find out game stuff myself. I'm not going to look it up for you.
--------------------------
Q: Have you ever made...?
A: Use the search bar on the account of mine that you are on to look for what you want to know on that account. The list is ever-growing and I cannot type everything I have ever made every time I'm asked. It's too massive.
--------------------------
Q: Do you play *game* online?/ Download *game* for *system*!
A: I don't play games online. Heck, I don't even have wi-fi Internet to be able to do so. Yes, that also means that I can't download games on the Wii, DS, etc. If I ever do, I would no doubt inform people so I could form a community.
--------------------------
Q: How do you...?/ What do you use to...?
A: I show what things I use and how I use them in the tutorials I made. Check the "tutorials" playlist on my "PkGam" Youtube channel to see every one I made.
--------------------------
Q: Subscribe to me!/ Add me in your box!/ Follow my work!/ Etc.
A: This basically falls under the one about not asking me to do anything, so I won't. :P But, I'll cover this here for another reason: Asking people to follow you or put you in their box does not guarantee real viewers for you. I've seen channels with thousands of subscribers they asked for with 0-10 views per video. Your subscriber number is NOT your fanbase. You want people to subscribe to you because they come across your work and want to subscribe because they like it, not because you asked them to and they do so out of pity but never come back.
----------------------
Here's some more general tips for you to NOT get backlash from me or other people:
1: Turn annotations ON! Annotations are oftentimes used to correct mistakes in videos or note other things. If for some reason you turned them off because a channel you watch uses them in annoying ways, you probably just don't want to watch their videos, lol! A good creator will not make them obstructive.
2: Read the descriptions! Often the answers you are looking for are there. You can't call yourself a fan unless you know stuff about the creators that you are a fan of. :P
3: dON'T WITE IN CAPS LOK ORR MISSSPEL ALOT A THINGZ!!!!1!!111 It's obnoxious and more often than not you will be ignored for acting so stupid. Decent grammar and punctuation skills help too.
4: Don't request something unless asked to. If people are asking for ideas and you do, go for it. If they're not, don't.
5: Don't ask/post the same things over and over. It annoys people.
6: If you dislike something, say what it is politely and constructively. Just saying "THIS SUCKS" doesn't tell the person what you think "sucks". Constructively worded level-headed explanations get you further than mindless hate.
7: Read people's FAQs, lol! This is pretty self explanatory. Always check around to see if someone has one. Not everyone does, but it's worth looking into before you post. You wouldn't want to break a rule or bug someone you are a fan of, would you? Exactly!

Ok, that's about it for my FAQ. Needless to say: it's irritating when the same people blatantly ask stuff covered on here over and over.
Thanks for reading and have a good one!
You spelled ("because") wrong.
ReplyDeleteits kind of rude saying that its obnoxious for spelling the way you portrayed in one of the faqs up above and saying that you would be ignored for "acting so stupid" although i totally honestly agree about that you kind of went to far by adding the comment "for acting so stupid" ;(
ReplyDeletemeant to say that, although i totally & honestly agree that it is very annoying to spell the way you portrayed up above, i think you went to far by adding "for acting so stupid" in that sentence. newsflash, "stupid" is very offensive and rude. As portrayed in my username i am one of your biggest fans & i admire your videos.(your also my favorite walkthrougher) but i also do not tolerate rudeness as delineated up above. i do have to say i wouldn't have expected this from someone who appears to get very chafed from things. (for example) how you get irritated when someone says "FIRST" "SECOND" "THIRD". ;(
Delete@happy feet: Fixed, thanks!
ReplyDelete@pkgam fan: Err, I said "acting" stupid, not flat out calling people stupid for doing it. Acting is fake, hence why it's called "acting". The reason why I said "acting" is because I know the great majority of the people who act that way aren't dumb.
